As part of a series of changes in the organizational structure of the Jerusalem Municipality, Mandel Leadership Institute graduate Danny Bar-Giora, was appointed to head the entire Education Administration, one of seven central administrations recently established in the municipality, and as such will be responsible for the Jerusalem Education Administration, the Haredi Education Administration and a few other municipal agencies. Bar Giora will assume his new position this coming May.
According the Maariv NRG website, Mayor Nir Barkat said, “Many great challenges stand before Jerusalem’s educational system, which is at the forefront of the municipality’s priorities, and I am confident that Bar Giora, an educator with abundant experience, will know how to direct Jerusalem’s educational reforms and
will develop the Capital’s educational system into the leading system in Israel.”
Bar Giora, 47, a resident of Jerusalem, is a well-known educator in the city and has many years of teaching and managerial experience. Previously, Bar Giora headed the Jerusalem High School for the Arts for eleven years and turned it into one of the city’s leading schools. In the past he taught at Beit Ariel in Jerusalem and at the “Liyada” high school.
In 2004 Bar Giora was awarded the educational institutional award of the Jerusalem municipality.
Currently, Bar Giora directs the Implementation Unit of the “New Horizon” reform in the Ministry of Education in his position as a deputy director.
