Mandel Leadership Institute Fellows’ Final Project Presentations

Twenty-four fellows of the Mandel Leadership Institute presented their final projects after a long, challenging and insightful period of study. The learning, which took place both individually and in groups, included research and discovery, deliberation and observation.

Fellows of the Mandel Leadership Institute presented their individual projects to their peers, to experts and advisors in the field, and to the faculty of the MLI. This year the fellows, together with the project workshop leaders, worked with a unique model that was reflected in the structure and content of the projects. The atmosphere during the presentations was open and attentive, but also presented an arena for raising new ideas for further thought and intense debate. The fellows, faculty and guests discussed ideas that rose as extensions from the fellows’ projects.

Fellows of the Mandel School for Educational Leadership come with professional and managerial experience to the program whose goal is to develop and cultivate educational leaders with vision and influence that will motivate and lead processes to promote education in Israel. The curriculum is based on the premise that an educational leader should act according to a profound and practical vision. Through work on the individual and group levels, the fellows developed perceptions of vision in an intense and challenging framework that gave them the opportunity to learn and explore the field of education through meaningful experience in the field and meeting with prominent experts in a variety of fields.

The topics of study and research were diverse, rich and engaged in social and educational issues. The fellows began to work on their individual projects upon entry into MLI and, through deep and meaningful thinking about world views, the projects served as a springboard for translating an idea into something tangible in the world of education.

Mandel Jerusalem Fellows come from a proven background in Jewish education and community leadership in the Diaspora. The Jerusalem Fellows program is designed to invigorate Jewish life worldwide through the training of professionals with vision, commitment and practical understanding to lead community institutions and manage educational initiatives. Each member of the Jerusalem Fellows program devoted much of the year to developing an individual project as part of an applied educational process. The projects related to important challenges inherent in Jewish education and in the Jewish community, providing an opportunity to examine the relationship between theory and practice and the role of Jewish educational leadership vision. The fellows presented their projects to their peers from the program, MLI faculty and colleagues from the professional world.
